Lofoten (Norway) – a winter wonderland

February 2016 – We went out for ten days chasing the Polar Lights. Those nights waiting for the “Greens” to show up in the sky were f-r-e-e-z-i-n-g cold. Batteries died in low minus temperatures and lenses had constantly to be kept ice-free. But the reward was ours and we got some beautiful pictures. But don’t forget about daylight – this time of the year the skies are crystal clear and with the sun out we got all the good shots in a winter wonderland.

The trip to Svolvaer, our meeting point on the Lofoten, was an adventure in itself. The plan was to get there by ship, taking one of the “Hurtigruten” vessels from Bergen. That should have been an easy three-days-cruise. Once on the ship we never left the harbour of Bergen due to engine failure and were instead flewn out to reach our designated destinations. Just made it on time.

Beautiful winter landscape reflecting in the fjord.
